Baitadi: Police have made public the accused involved in the murder of 17-year-old Bhagirathi Bhatt of Dogadakedar Village Municipality-7 of Baitadi.
Dinesh Bhatt, age 18, of Chadepani in Dogadakedar Gaonpalika-7, who was involved in the rape and murder of Bhagirathi, was made public at a press conference at the District Police Office, Baitadi on Wednesday.
According to Far-Western State Police Chief Uttam Raj Subedi, the accused was arrested on suspicion of involvement in Bhagarathi’s murder on the basis of his suspicious activities, location, eyewitness and evidence statements, and technical analysis. According to him, Dinesh, a class 11 student of Sanatan Dharma Higher Secondary School, chased Bhagirathi and killed her in Lavlek community forest on February 3.
According to police, Bhagarathi’s brother has also filed an FIR against Bhatta. DIG Subedi said that the investigation has been carried out by collecting evidence of the incident in a flawless manner and further investigation is underway.
Bhagirathi, who had gone to school on February 3, did not return home till the evening. The family had started searching for her. Bhagarathi’s body was found in the bush of Lavlek community forest about 30 meters below the road leading to his house in the afternoon.
The post-mortem report showed that Bhagirathi had sustained head and hand injuries and died of strangulation after the rape.
