Nepali Congress Baitadi had organized a protest rally against the dissolution of the parliament in Dilasani village municipality-3 Pansera of the district under the chief hospitality of Nepali Congress, central committee member, NP Saud.
While Nepali Congress leader Jayaraj Joshi was speaking at the program, CPN cadres pelted stones at the venue, said Narendra Singh Thapa, party president of Nepali Congress District Working Committee, Baitadi. “We were holding the program peacefully,” Thapa said “Oli’s cadres pelted stones at the venue in a hooligan and dictatorial style.”
Nepal Tarun Dal leader Suresh Singh Bist alleged that Baitadi District Chairman of the CPN-Oli group Surendra Pal had ordered to throw stones at the program. Six leaders and cadres, including Nepali Congress central committee member NP Saud, were injured in the incident.
“I got information that CPN cadres have attacked in the program.” Chief of the District Police Office, Baitadi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Adhikari said, “Six people including Nepali Congress leader NP Saud, former president of Shankardev Campus Nebisang (NSU) Madan Upadhyay and former central member of Nebisang (NSU) Suman KC were injured in the incident.” He further added that an investigation is underway.
CPN cadres have also vandalized some vehicles. Nepali Congress central committee member NP Saud has strongly condemned the stoning of a peaceful program by the CPN-Oli cadres.
Addressing the program, Saud said, “Everyone should be allowed to speak in a democracy.” But KP Oli and his cadres have violated the freedom of speech of the people,” he said ” The Nepali Congress will not be intimidated by such heinous activities of the CPN-Maoist to silence the people.”
