Pokhara: Prithvi Subba Gurung, who has been re-appointed as the Chief Minister of Gandaki, has been sworn in. State head Sita Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to him on Wednesday evening.
After Gurung’s resignation on April 29, Poudel had given three days to the parties in the state assembly to submit their demand for the formation of a majority government.
On Wednesday 12 May, Nepali Congress MP Krishnachandra Nepali Pokhrel claimed that he had the support of 31 MPs from four parties. However, Poudel has appointed Gurung as the chief minister of the minority government as per Article 168 (3) of the constitution saying that Pokhrel’s claim will not be met.
Now, Chief Minister Gurung will have to take a vote of confidence in the state assembly within a month.
