Kailali, October 18
Police in Kailali district of far-western Nepal have arrested 11 persons in connection with an alleged murder of a policeman on Sunday morning.
Assistant Sub-inspector Govinda BK was found dead in the Mohana river this morning.
Most of the arrestees are said to be locals involved in the cross-border smuggling of various goods and others who are dissatisfied with BK’s leadership of the local police post in Jugeda.
Their names, however, have not been revealed as the probe is in the initial stage.
DIG Uttam Raj Subedi, the chief of the Sudurpaschim Provincial Police Office, says, “It seems BK was stabbed with a sharp weapon. Details will be known after the postmortem report comes out.”
Meanwhile, Head Constable Ram Bahadur Saud, who had accompanied BK in the patrol, is still out of contact. Security personnel and divers have been mobilised in the river for the search.
