Mahendranagar: The District Traffic Police Office, Kanchanpur has honored seven public transport drivers today.
Sudurpaschim Provincial Police Chief Purushottam Kandel honored the senior drivers who have been driving the bus for a long time following all the traffic rules, not causing accidents, and treating the passengers with respect.
Among the honorees are Nawaraj Joshi of Mahakali Yatayat Pvt. Ltd., Karna Bahadur Thapa Magar of Pawandoot Yatayat and auto management Pvt. Ltd, Surendra Bohara of Sunaulo Mahakali Yatayat Committee and Ramesh Bahadur Singh of Pawandoot Transport and Auto Management Pvt. Ltd. Similarly, Ganesh Singh Khatri of Namaste Shuklaphanta Yatayat Pvt. Ltd., Janaki Luhar of Siddha Baijnath Yatayat Pvt. Ltd. and Madan Nath of Kanchanpur Auto Yatayat were also honored.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Kandel stressed on the need to focus on reducing accidents by following traffic rules. He said that the police would be active in traffic rules awareness work as there would be more accidents during the festival.
“It’s also a message that we respect those who drive carefully and follow traffic rules, without causing accidents.” Chief of Kanchanpur Traffice police Inspector Keshav Raj Bhatta said, “Those who violate the traffic rules will be punished.”
Last fiscal year, 34 people lost their lives in road accidents. A fine of Rs 8 million was collected in those incidents.
