Kathmandu: A bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR is scheduled to hear the review petition filed against the decision of the Supreme Court to destroy the unity of the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist.
Judges Tej Bahadur KC and Prakash Kumar Dhungana are in the bench including the Chief Justice.
CPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had filed a review petition on Tuesday after a bench of Supreme Court Justices Bamkumar Shrestha and Kumar Regmi ruled that the unity between the UML and the CPN (Maoist) should be disrupted.
The CPN (Maoist) has said that the Supreme Court has exceeded the limits of its constitutional and legal responsibilities by deciding to separate the CPN UML and the CPN (Maoist).
The Supreme Court had annulled the party unity between the CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist) on March 07, 2021. The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) was formed by uniting the UML and the CPN (Maoist). It was registered and recognized by the Election Commission in 2075 BS.
However, Chairman Rishi Kattel had gone to the Supreme Court against the Election Commission saying that his leadership was already registered with the Election Commission.
