Kathmandu: Police have arrested CPN-Prachanda-Madhav group leader Ram Kumari Jhakri.
Police have arrested Jhakri for his remarks about President Vidyadevi Bhandari. A team of the Metropolitan Crime Branch arrested Jhakri from her house.
Earlier, the branch had called Jhakri for questioning, but Jhakri refused to go without an arrest warrant. The branch has also issued an arrest warrant for Jhakri to investigate the crime against the nation.
The All Nepal Women’s Association affiliated with the CPN-Oli group had demanded action against Ram Kumari for her remarks about the President at a program organized in Gorkha.
More than a dozen police officers led by DSP Durgaraj Regmi had reached Jhakri’s residence to arrest her.
Many activists of the CPN-Prachanda-Madhav group had gathered outside his residence to protest Jhakri. Before her arrest, she said she was a follower of the nation’s law.
Chief of the Division, SSP Deepak Thapa, told that Jhakri was taken under control on the basis of a complaint lodged by the All Nepal Women’s Association.
