UML demanded 24-hour clarification from MPs who voted for Deuba

CPN-UML is going to ask the lawmakers who have given a vote of confidence to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba for a 24-hour explanation.

Spokesperson Pradip Kumar Gyawali informed that a meeting of the Central Committee held at Chyasal in Lalitpur on Monday decided to ask for clarification.

“Crossing the floor is against party discipline and public opinion, so it has been decided to ask 22 MPs for clarification,” he told reporters after the meeting. “Based on their answers, the party will take further steps.”

When Prime Minister Deuba asked for a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on Sunday, 22 lawmakers, including UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal, had cast their votes in favor of Deuba.

Among those who voted for Deuba are Madhav Kumar Nepal, Birodh Khatiwada, Jiban Ram Shrestha, Kalyani Khadka, Metmani Chaudhary, Bhawani Khapung, Mukunda Neupane, Parvati Bishunkhe, Hira KC, and Krishna Kumar Shrestha.

Similarly, Gopal Bam, Prem Bahadur Ale, Dhan Bahadur Budha, Bina Budhathoki, Sarala Yadav, Pushpa Kumari Karn, Laxmi Chaudhary, Niradevi Jairu, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Kalila Khatun, Savina Hussain and Krishnalal Maharjan also voted for Deuba.
