Kathmandu: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the ordinance related to political parties. Spokesperson of the Supreme Court Baburam Dahal informed that the writ is in the process of registration. He said, “We are in the process of registration. Registration can be done by 3 o’clock.”
Advocates Arjun Kumar Aryal, Sakuntala Bhushal, Anup Aryal, Pravesh KC, Shrikant Baral, Nivesh Lamsal and others have filed a writ petition seeking repeal of the ordinance saying it is unconstitutional.
On Tuesday, the government had submitted an ordinance on political parties to the President. An ordinance on political parties was issued by President Vidyadevi Bhandari on Wednesday. After the ordinance, the country’s largest party, the CPN-UML, and the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) split.
